Star trek resurgence demo12/8/2023 Basically a tutorial mission to then go through picking choices, having certain skills to change slightly how the story went.Īfter that ended, off to an officer academy where you set your schedule for what classes you would do each week, interact with your fellow students, build up stats as you enter the department you wanted to be. You started off as a cadet in training onboard a ship that was answering a distress call, and you could choose between being a pilot or an engineer or security. Some generic Unity looking, 3D character models in front of static backgrounds, generic sci-fi looking of blacks, greys, beige, etc. Well this won't be much help as I can't remember the name, and searching on Steam and Google isn't helping.īut, there is (was?) an early access visual novel demo I played a couple of years ago for a Steam fest that felt more like Star Trek than Mass Effect did just in tone and feeling in a Rodenberry style direction of the future. It's corny, cheeky, and all thinly veiled metaphor in the exact same way. That stuff is whatever, but the political debates are seriously the closest I've ever felt to being presented with classic Trek dilemmas. The actual gameplay is a pretty mid RTS, but it's very easy and you can even auto-resolve battles, which on the lowest difficulty I think might just hand you the win every time. Everyone stands around this war table and it's all voice acted. Different representatives will demand you pursue specific territory, promise them something that will piss off another group if they help you, that kind of thing. Each of them have their own political beliefs and wants, and you have to navigate the conversations to find equitable solutions (or sometimes just tell someone "no"). But it does have a fantastic feature that makes up the bulk of the game where you have to field debates between representatives of the different fantasy countries in the game that make up your alliance. Going out on a limb with a weird recommendation here: Divinity: Dragon Commander.
